As readers of Instaputz know, Michael Totten today committed the unforgivable error of using "I" when "me" was required in a sentence; he did so while standing in for noted law professor Glenn Reynolds in his far-right blog Instapundit. The citizen journalist crew at Instaputz immediately noticed this unserious error and highlighted it in a thorough investigation highlighting Totten's shrill and unhinged rhetoric.
As many know, Totten has previously delighted millions of his readers with carefully-crafted prose such as "I went to the bathroom even though I didn’t have to." Today, Totten's attempts at hurting America took a turn for the worse as he deliberately, and some might even say angrily, expelled the following sentence: "Thanks, Glenn, for giving Megan, Ann, and I the keys to the blog for a few days."
Yet only a few short hours later, in a move reminiscent of Rathergate and the Lebanese fauxtography scandals that have been so well-documented by Reynolds, Malkin, Hinderaker, et al., the horrific mistake has been silently corrected. No strike-through remains as evidence of Totten's incompetence (or malice?)
One must wonder if this is indeed the same Michael Totten we have come to admire for his fearless reporting from bathrooms around the world. Could this in fact be another sock-puppet scandal, taking us back to the days when Glenn Reynolds' Brazilian boyfriend posted anonymous comments in order to smear the brave and gorgeous Kathryn Jean Lopez?
Unfortunately, this only confirms the thesis that very serious observers of the war and America's struggle with islamofascism have long held: Michael Totten simply does not have the right temperament to be allowed near a blog ever again. Perhaps, one day, when the singularity is near...
