Putz's GOP "pre-mortem" revisited.

Putz keeps breaking his own arm trying to pat himself on the back for being prescient (though every reliable poll said the GOP was in trouble) but let's take a look back on his list of reasons the GOP would lose, and compare them with the exit polling.

1. Terri Schiavo
2. Harriet Miers
3. Dubai
4. Immigration
5. Hastert's support of William Jefferson
6. Foleygate

As we noted earlier, see anything missing? Like Iraq or the incredibly unpopular president?

CNN:

After a sweeping Democratic takeover of the House of Representatives in Tuesday's midterm election, and with control of the Senate hanging in the balance, exit polls indicated views of President Bush and the war in Iraq were key to the outcome.

...

Schneider said as he interviewed voters across the country, "a lot of voters said, 'I'm going to vote Democratic.' They didn't even know the name of the Democrat, but they said, 'I'm going to vote Democratic because I don't like Bush, I don't like the war, I want to make a statement.'"
NY Times:
Democrats seized control of the House of Representatives and defeated at least three Republican senators yesterday, riding a wave of voter discontent with President Bush and the war in Iraq.
WaPost:

It turns out all politics isn't local. Voters angry at President Bush, peeved by Washington scandal and tired of the war in Iraq vented their frustration on Republican candidates across the country.
It's really astonishing that a non-partisan libertarian political "pundit" and law professor could be so blatantly, totally wrong about a national election.

Taking shots at Putz has become like shooting fish in a barrel. I love your stuff, but he makes it soooo easy. Consider expanding your targets, and there are too many to mention (ok, one - Hee Haw Hewitt).

And Althouse. Since I have never seen the two of them in the same place, I have to conclude Althouse is InstaRube in drag. Maybe this is what he does when he gets hammered, because she always seems like she has more than a good buzz going.

He also left out the corruption that has permeated congress. All the seats that had a corrupt politician exposed or is being investigated have been replaced with a democrat.

cathy-
but you forget that corruption was on both sides. There was that huge Reid scandal, and don't forget that Abramoff's clients (Indians) gave to Dem politicians also, thus implicating them in all things Abramoff. That's my story and I'm sticking to it until the guys with butterfly nets come for me. Glenn Reynolds.

You forgot the sneer quotes around the word "libertarian". Reynolds hasn't been anything of the sort in what I've read of his appalling blog.

One other point of notice: outside of the echo chambers like FreeRepublic.com, I've noticed a real tendency to prevent feedback on neocon blogs. Weird, huh?
