It's not just what you say, it's what you do.

Politico:

“We have to start electing people who look like their communities all the way from city council to county commissioners to county clerks all the way through the state and up into national politics,” she [Republican Governor Susana Martinez] told POLITICO and Yahoo News at the conclusion of the Republican Governors Association meeting here.
“We need to embrace them not just at election time,” she added. “We visit them, and they don’t appreciate that. And I don’t blame them for not appreciating that. We should not visit them when we need their vote and then walk away. And then four years go by and we go visit them again. We have to make them part of the solution, and the way you do that is by listening to them.”
She expressed disdain for Romney’s claim this week on a conference call that Obama won reelection because he offered “gifts” to minorities and younger voters.
“That unfortunately is what sets us back as a party — our comments that are not thought through carefully,” she said.
Yes, calling people freeloaders and moochers and philosophizing about rape isn't helpful. But those remarks are reflective of both the GOP's worldview and their favored policies.

There's simply no good way to message "all abortions should be illegal" or "the answer to all our problems is more free money for rich people."

Sorry, Susana. A crap sandwich is still a crap sandwich, no matter what bread you put it on.

OK, but what if you add Grey Poupon? No, that's too liberal and elitist. Ketchup, that's the ticket - and bacon; what if you layer it with bacon, and sausage and cheese! On a (small) bun (no sense cutting into the profits). Call it a Big GOP or a McRand or something. Add plenty of Patriot Fries (from potato-like root vegetables) and a large Fresca and Cola drink, and surprise! the Republicans are right back at the top of the heap. 3. Profit!

AGAIN with the articulation. That's the Message of the Day: We're not expressing our Message properly.

Of course, you can't criticize an inept job of soul searching if you're talking about people who lack souls.

Imperialists and Galtian geniuses don't listen to the help or their other inferiors.

Romney couldn't feign concern, and neither can most conservatives. If they gave a damn about others beyond their tribe, they wouldn't be conservatives.

I've often thought that racists who can hide it are worse than people like Glenn Reynolds, where it oozes out of him like shit oozes out of a blivet. Moderate republicans these days are racists who can hide it. Fortunately for the future of the country, the core 22% of Americans who are foaming at the mouth will make sure the Republicans are driven into oblivion.
