Joe Scarborough doesn't know what the word "hypocrisy" means.

First, a little reminder of what Obama has said about tax rates on rich people.
So, at a time when too many working families are already struggling to make ends meet, they want to give millionaires and billionaires and folks like me tax cuts that we don’t need and that the country can’t afford, even if middle-class families have to pick up the tab for it.  Those are their priorities.

...

"Tell them don't give tax breaks to folks like me who don't need them. Tell them to start investing in the things that will help the economy grow … remind them who they work for. Tell them to do the right thing," Obama said.

...

"I believe our prosperity has always come from an economy that's built on a strong and growing middle class," Obama said, noting that he has cut middle class taxes as president. "... So that's why I believe it's time to let the tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, folks like myself, to expire."
In light of this, JoeScar's rant about Obama's "hypocrisy" this morning was just bizarre.
Scarborough said that Obama had campaigned for higher taxes on the rich, yet paid half the tax rate that he paid. "The hypocrisy was mind-boggling," the MSNBC host said.

He said that Obama — whom he called a "class warrior" — went after Mitt Romney for paying a tax rate lower than what a teacher pays. Obama, Scarborough said, also paid a lower tax rate than teachers.
What?

During the campaign, Obama said that taxes are currently too low for rich people like him, and that Congress should raise them. In contrast, Mitt Romney's position was Congress should cut taxes on the wealthy, including his.

Oh, and Obama favored the Buffet Rule (which again, Romney opposed), which would've nearly doubled his tax bill this year.

Not sure where the "hypocrisy" is. Obama's low tax bill sort of proves his point.

Ah yes, the wingnut definition of "hypocrisy". It goes something like this: if you're for women rights and you don't spend every waking hour protesting and your last penny on the cause, you're a hypocrite. If you believe in climate change and you drive a car, again, you're a hypocrite. Basically anything that shows you're not an extremist to that one issue, you're a hypocrite. Wingnut, it's the new flavor of crazy!

I really think many conservatives are so ruthlessly cynical that they believe the only honest opinion is a selfish one. So, Romney's self-interest is understandable and honest. Obama is a hypocrite for pretending to care about people other than himself, when everyone knows that no one is REALLY like that.

And many conservatives make the intuitive presumption that everything is always personal, nothing is just a matter of public policy. So, Obama is a hypocrite for proposing a public policy that he doesn't already just abide by voluntarily. If he wants to pay more to the gov't, what's stopping him??? Hypocrite. Romney doesn't want to pay much, so he doesn't, hence he's honest and not at all hypocritical.

This is a recurring conservative problem (I've chronicled a few instances in the past). A significant percentage of conservatives truly do not understand why anyone would invest in the social contract and voluntarily give up privilege. They know they don't trust such people, but they truly do not understand them.
