Glenn Reynolds: Romney lost because he showed insufficient fealty to the Tea Party.

Delusional.
I keep hearing demographic deepthink about population shifts and how if Romney had gotten as many Latinos as George W. Bush he’d have won. Maybe so. But if Romney had gotten as many Republicans as John McCain he’d have won, too. I kept going on and on about the importance of showing up, and that seems to have been what mattered. Why didn’t people show up? Good question. Was it undercover anti-Mormonism? Or was it simply that Romney — who campaigned for independents and deliberately distanced himself from the Tea Party — didn’t pay enough attention to the base? Maybe the numbers will answer this, but obviously the Obama people thought this was a base-turnout election and Romney’s people didn’t. Obama’s people were right.

I want them to double down--no, quadruple down--on this fucking lunacy. Maybe I will create a few angry teabag blogs, build up a following, and goad them into more stupidity.

Pace Putz, the days when monkey dolls and medicine man posters got the vote out are gone for good.

"Joe" the "Plumber" got flushed in Ohio-16, losing 23% to 77%.

You've heard of the Bradley Effect? Well, this time it was the Romney Effect.

Charles, my immediate reaction to "goad them into more stupidity" was no way can they get more fucking stupid. But then about a nanosecond later I did what I always do - realize that these guys never ever bottom out on the stupid.

Their ability to always get dumber is simultaneously amazing and banal.

Clearly wrong. Romney lost because he didn't dress up in an Aztec headdress and rip the beating hearts of his enemies from their chests. Also, he lost because he wasn't a man, but a small girl with an antelope's head. If only he hadn't kept appearing on stage in drag, Unskewed Polls would have been even more accurate! Yes, Romney plainly lost because he kept claiming in public that Karl Marx was too conservative, and Jesus didn't go far enough when it came to rejecting the lure of wealth and power. Yep, that's the ticket.

Oh, sure, it's easy to conclude that NOW. Where were you last week?

The Tea Party was crushed on election day. I hope the GOP pursues Reynolds' thesis for the next 4 years. I'm SURE the electorate will warm to the crazy.

Along with FoxNews and Unskewed polls, must be a lovely bizarro world counter reality bubble they live in.
