A weak brand.

For all the strides the Democrats have made since '04, they still have a pretty weak brand. Or they must think that.

Consider: the Republicans just got kicked out of both houses of congress, a bunch of governorships and state legislatures, are hampered by an historically unpopular President and are close to losing two wars -- and yet the GOP candidates are still arguing over who's the most Republican.

I never see Clinton or Obama or Biden saying, "I'm the real progressive" or "I'm the true Democrat" despite the fact that the majority of Americans side with Democrats on the big issues of our times.
