More sage advice from Exxon.

This morning, Putz goes back to our favorite guy at the ExxonMobil-funded TCS Daily (remember this?) for what to do about Iraq. Josh Manchester's cunning plan includes:
The US political class is currently misreading the US election, thinking that it provides a mandate for withdrawal. Instead, it was a message of general discontent.
Bzzzzzzzzz! Sorry, Josh, but you are currently misreading every objective poll on Iraq.
CNN 11/19

"Do you favor or oppose the war in Iraq?"
Favor 33%
Oppose 63%

"Which comes closest to your view about what the U.S. should now do about the number of U.S. troops in Iraq? The U.S. should send more troops to Iraq. The U.S. should keep the number of troops as it is now. The U.S. should withdraw some troops from Iraq. OR, The U.S. should withdraw all of its troops from Iraq."

Send more 16%
Keep same number 21%
Withrdraw some/all 60%

Pew 11/9

"Which concerns you more -- that the U.S. will leave Iraq before a stable democracy is in place, OR, that the U.S. will wait too long to withdraw its troops from Iraq?"

Leave too soon 33%
Wait too long 55%

"Do you think the US should or should not set a timetable for when troops will be withdrawn?"

Should 56%
Should not 36%

Newsweek 11/10

"All in all, do you think the United States is making progress or losing ground in its efforts to establish security and democracy in Iraq?"

Making progress 30%
Losing ground 63%

I realize that the wingnuttery doesn't believe in objective polling, but they're pretty cut and dry on this issue. I wonder when Putz will stop linking to these discredited sources in a feeble effort to bolster the non-existent support for the war.

Blue Texan,

I have no right to assign you homework, and I realize that there's enough new Instamaterial every day to keep you in the clover. Feel free to disregard this suggestion entirely.

But, it seems to me that it might be fun to occasionally introduce an occasional "This Day in Putziness" feature. Reynolds has been wrong so often that it would be fun to go back and see what he was talking about in 2002, 2003, 2004. Was he insulting Hans Blix and the Iraqi weapons inspectors? Crying "racist" at people who express concern about an Iraqi civil war? Chortling about Kerry's well-documented intern scandal? Soberly cautioning Democrats about how embarrassed they'll be when the WMDs are found?

It'd be a hoot. Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion Ted. We used to have a "Classic Putz" feature every Friday.

We'll have to bring it back.
