Lying about the media lying.

In a terrific tautology, Putz accuses the AP of misrepresenting Rumsfeld's speech, while misreprenting that supposed misreprentation.
AN A.P. HATCHET JOB ON RUMSFELD? The QandO blog does a side by side comparison of the speech and the AP story. Shockingly, the two are a less-than-perfect match. "I'm not sure why I felt compelled to compare the speech with the story, but for some reason the story just didn't sound right. And, as you can see, it wasn't. . . . CNN repeats the story unedited and obviously, unchecked. Forbes as well. Ditto for ABC and Fox. And you wonder how myths and memes get started?"

Wonder? No.

So those reliably liberal news divisions of Forbes, ABC and Fox are all mindless Bush-hating sheep, but only QandO can see the unvarnished truth. Anyone else buying that?

QandO is even boasting about the AP changing their story, but the changes are embarassingly insignificant. But don't take our word for it, read Rummy's speech here, and the AP story here, and decide for yourself if it was the "hatchet job" Putz claims.

The best take on the Rumsfeld speech is truly a must-read -- this fantastic Murrow-esque smackdown by Olbermann, which aired tonight on MSNBC.

UPDATE:

Love your work, m'man. Keep it up. In my weaker moments, I've made an effort to keep him separate from the more ostentatiously deranged rightwingers, but then someone like you posts a reminder of just how far apart he and actual reality are and I get to go back to realizing that not only can I count the number of reasonable conservatives on the fingers of one hand, but they're (all three of 'em) actually friends of mine. As an added bonus, that means I can physiaccly strike them, but I digress. Keep it up. It's nothing short of inspirational.
