Wingnuts No Longer Find Michael Yon Useful.

We've given Michael Yon some shit over the years --  all of it justified. Yon's reporting, equal parts and hagiographic -- was frequently used by self-described 'milbloggers' to make the case that everything was hunky-dory in Iraq, even when (especially when) it was not.

So, it is really amazing how quickly Yon's former boosters have tossed him under the Greyhound, simply because he's gone off-message. His sin? To express dissatisfaction with General Stanley McChrystal.

Retribution was swift and predictable.

Blackfive's Uncle Jimbo (who is, btw, stupid) says Yon is "acting like a jackass", milblogging.com says Yon has "lost it", and Laughing Wolf seems to think condescension is the way to go.

Yon, in turn, has had a long-overdue epiphany:

Bottom line questions: How many milbloggers who were not on active duty (hence sent to the war as a troop) have spent more than a year in the wars? I know of zero. Does one exist? The milblogging community is largely a hurricane of hot air.

There are some ...good and responsible writers working milblogs but most of them are less accurate than the MSM they oppose.

Just to put this heresy in context: Just imagine Grover Norquist confessing that tax cuts for the rich aren't such a hot idea after all.
