Prediction.

Because this administration is nothing if not craven, the rumor on Drudge about Theodore Olson for AG is likely true. It's gotta be awfully tempting to announce the nomination of this unscrupulous asshole on the anniversary of his wife's death.

An especially unsavory aspect of the nomination is the almost-certain use of September 11, 2001 as a cudgel with which to beat back opponents of Mr. Olson. We will no doubt hear that Mr. Olson is especially equipped to deal with terrorism, simply because his wife was among the victims. Bullshit. That's only slightly less ridiculous than the farce of Rudolph Giuliani's illustrious foreign policy bona fides, which the former Mayor apparently earned because he, unlike Mr. Bush, wasn't a blubbering mass of goo on this day six years ago.

That is all.
