A big difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals are much more pragmatic. That is to say, liberals will generally accept methods that are less than ideal to them if those methods achieve certain ends they find desirable (see the liberal support of the ACA).

Right-wingers, on the other hand, operate from a set of stark, black and white, moral principles. So you get tweets like this from Rick Warren.

You just don't see liberals running around saying, "Stop feeding the poor, Catholic Charities! That's for government to do!"

And the reason is because liberals are more pragmatic, and generally not crazy assholes.
