Evil geniuses.

I do agree that Republicans had a very smart political machine going there for a while. But it was exposed in 2005, when George W. Bush decided it was a great time to privatize Social Security and sign SHAMNESTY! into law.

Those issues exposed the growing schism between the fundie/nativist shock troops and the party establishment, a gulf that was ripped wide open with the party's embrace of the Teahadists.

Teahadism is incompatible with Republican corporatism, which is why Willard is having so much trouble.

If you look at the GOP in elections since 1992, they've lost the popular vote in 4 out of 5 presidentials, and they've lost 2 out of the last 3 nationals.

Some geniuses.
