What Is Called A Reason For Living Is Also An Excellent Reason for Dying.

If you read only Putz's squib...
SHANNON LOVE ON STEVE CHAPMAN AND IRAQ. "Over at Reason, Steve Chapman rather sneeringly suggests that we should have the people of Iraq vote on whether to continue our military presence in their country. I think this is a fantastic idea, because I know exactly how they will vote."

...you'd think the overwhelming number of Iraqis want an endless occupation.

You'd be mistaken.

Mr. Love's post "overlooks" (ahem) this passage in Mr. Chapman's item:
A February poll found that 73 percent of Iraqis oppose the presence of foreign troops in Iraq—including 77 percent of Shiites and 95 percent of Sunnis.

If any sneering is being done, it's by Putz himself -- at the Iraqis, who by Love's own admission are "a sovereign nation," "recognized by the UN," and have a "government ... elected in a massively observed free election."

Indeed.

So, why are we in Vietnam Iraq?
