Weird Denial.

From Ryan Crocker:

"I can tell you flatly that U.S. forces are not operating across the Iraqi border into Iran."

The inclusion of the first six words sets off alarm bells because it gives Crocker a lot of wiggle room. He could likewise say, "I can tell you flatly that my name is not Ryan Crocker," and that would be literally true because he is physically capable of telling us that.
