And why is a man with a white mother considered to be "black," anyway? Is it for this that [sic] we fought so hard to get over Plessy v. Ferguson?
Hitch is an American citizen (he quite publicly signed the papers last April), but still, I'm reminded of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry suspects Tim Whatley "converted to Judaism just for the jokes."
It's nice a touch, btw, for Hitch -- who is generally careful about his word choice, though not his ideas -- to employ his newly-minted citizenship to take partial credit for jurisprudence from 1896.
