Um, Holy Shit. (Update)

WNBC:

Police and the bomb squad rushed to an apartment in Brooklyn Heights early Sunday after a man is discovered with pipe bombs in his apartment.

According to police, the man called 911 saying he had a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

When police arrived , they found the pipe bombs and immediately evacuated the building on Remson Street.

Bomb squads are combing the area.

The 31-year-old man was taken to the hospital for treatment and released to police for questioning.

Detective Madelyne Galindo said police went to the apartment on Remsen Street, near the south end of the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, at 12:45 a.m. after the man showed up at nearby Long Island College Hospital with a gunshot wound to his hand. He said the wound was self-inflicted, she said.

Police have not released the man's identity.

There's still a cop on the corner of Hicks and Grace, but everything seems to be back to normal. That is, totally quiet.

...Oops. Homeland Security is still here.

Why? "Just a precaution," said one cop.
