Ramesh Ponnuru is at his funniest when he talks about fellow Republicans. When he smacks down Kathryn Jean Lopez in the Corner, she can only huffily exclaim that calling Mitt Romney on a blatant lie is "an odd way to treat a leading presidential candidate."

Let's ignore the double standard for a moment (after all, these are the people who have been heh-indeeding through every crass antagonism thrown at Edwards and Clinton).

Let's also wave away the notion that Mitt Romney is "leading" at anything, aside from spending immense amounts of money, so far with shockingly poor results (forecasting a "strong fourth" place in South Carolina is the exact opposite of strong, as Cornerites accurately noted).

Let's just savor the very concept, the very foundation of what KJL is saying here.

Immediately calling a presidential candidate on a blatant lie is "odd."

Something to keep in mind next time KJL and her fellas at the NRO try their "gotcha!" approach with a Democrat.
