Glenn Reynolds thinks Iraq was about freedom marching.

This is one of the funnier memes in wingnutland: that the war was always about spreading democracy, not about WMD. It's amusing they're still floating it.

The Bushies gave lots of bogus reasons for the war: 9/11, terrorism, Saddam's ties to al Qaeda, etc., but WMD was the key justification. Just ask Paul Wolfowitz.

Oh, and the speech Bush gave the eve of the war? He mentions:

weapons: 8 times
WMD: 5 times
Nuclear weapons: 2 times
terrorists: 4 times
al Qaeda: 1 time

democracy: o times
