Putz links to his boy Hew who's vewy, vewy mad at that defeatist Pete Domenici (R-NM) who dared to question the Great Leader's Glorious War:
I suspect that the November elections will see Domenici and Oregon's Smith defeated as the GOP base in New Mexico and Oregon simply will not support candidates who do not support victory in the war, and out-of-state contributos have many other non-defeatist candidates to support.
I suspect that Domenici and Smith don't have their heads totally up their asses and can see that their moderate, center-left constituents hate Bush and hate the war -- which is why they've chosen "defeatism" over the smash-the-hornet's-nest-wait-for-the-pony strategy that Hew and the fringe Victory Caucusers endorse.
The GOP base demands (1) victory in the war, (2) border security, and (3) aggressive support of the president's judicial nominees.Since the GOP is getting zip, nada, zero, nothing on the first two from the President, they'll have to settle for the consolation prize of Scalito and Roberts. But since Bush is only batting .333 on those oh-so-critical demands, you wonder why 66% of Republicans still support him.
