AND TO THINK PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS ACCUSING WAR SUPPORTERS of being indifferent to genocide:
Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Thursday the United States cannot use its military to solve humanitarian problems and that preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn’t a good enough reason to keep U.S. forces there.
So much for the moral high ground.
Yes, let's keep 160,000 American troops in the middle of an Iraqi civil war and spend another trillion dollars and lose another 100 KIAs and God knows how many other casualities a month while helping recruit jihadis for al Qaeda -- all to prevent a potential disaster.
And, to boot, getting lots more Americans killed just because Bush says so is the moral position. Great.
Said Obama:
“Well, look, if that’s the criteria by which we are making decisions on the deployment of U.S. forces, then by that argument you would have 300,000 troops in the Congo right now — where millions have been slaughtered as a consequence of ethnic strife — which we haven’t done,” Obama said in an interview with The Associated Press.Exactly.
