A NEW AP-IPSOS POLL: "People think the Democratic-led Congress is doing just as dreary a job as President Bush, following four months of bitter political standoffs that have seen little progress on Iraq and a host of domestic issues. . . . The survey found only 35 percent approve of how Congress is handling its job, down 5 percentage points in a month. That gives lawmakers the same bleak approval rating as Bush, who has been mired at about that level since last fall." Upside for Nancy Pelosi -- she's still more popular than Congress as a whole, which means she can spin it that she's more popular than Bush!Sigh. Do we have to go over this again?
The Congressional approval rating before the New Year was 21%.
The Congressional approval rating on 5/1 was 39%.
That's a net gain of 18 points.
The last AP poll before the New Year was 27%.
The new AP poll Putz cites is 35%.
That's a net gain of 8 points.
Again, it's just not clear how this reflects badly on Democrats.
*$1 to Greenwald.
