Putz and McGovern.

(Pictured: B-24 pilot George McGovern, Distinguished Flying Cross recipient, after one of his 35 appeasment missions over Nazi Germany).

(updated below)

Does Putz realize that there was a national election 4 months ago and the Republicans got swept out of power at every level of government because of Iraq?

It doesn't appear so.

BECAUSE IT WORKED SO WELL FOR THEM LAST TIME: A look at Iraq, Democrats, and the return of McGovernism.

Ah yes, the dreaded McGovernism. Sure to be a killer at the polls for the Democrats.

Quoth Putz,
I think that a lot of the Democratic activist base -- and nearly all of the "netroots" establishment -- will be bitterly antiwar regardless of events on the ground. You can see that in their treatment of Lieberman today. It's pretty clearly subordinating their alleged top goal, regaining control of the House and Senate, to their real goal, striking out at anyone who supports the war regardless of their political affiliations or other positions. Actions speak louder than words. And yes, it's likely to be very damaging for the Democrats. Can you say "McGovern?"
Of course, Putz wrote that in July 2006. Can you say, "wrong"?

UPDATE

TS notes that the article at Real Clear Politics Putz linked to was written by one Peter Wehner. The Peter Wehner who is deputy assistant to the President and director of the White House's Office of Strategic Initiatives.

That's right, Putz is now linking to the White House to attack Democrats. How nonpartisan.
