The Politico/Drudge Windmill

Glenn Greenwald has already made a damn good case that Drudge has a preternatural fondness for the Politico crew. So please, liberal bloggers, let's not make the mistake of picking the wrong fight. A good example of this, as seen on Atrios and Media Matters, is that

Drudge flagged Obama hit piece on Politico -- which presented admittedly "trivial" inconsistencies -- apparently one hour before it was posted

Um, so what? Reporters/editors leak stories to the fedora'd wonder shortly before publication all the time. Here is but one recent example, from The New York Times.

Sad to say, there ain't a reporter in New York who doesn't have Matt Drudge's e-mail address.
