A libertarian candidate for president.

(Pictured: an actual libertarian)

A helpful reader pointed out that Putz should be really excited about this.
Rep. Ron Paul, a nine-term Texas congressman who describes himself as a lifelong libertarian, formally announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination Monday.
Wow, this is big, big news. I'm sure Putz will be blogging extensively about how excited he is that a libertarian is running, how great Paul is, what a huge boost a credible Paul candiacy will give to the libertarian party. I'm sure he'll do multiple fawning podcasts with Paul, link practically daily to news about Paul and unabashedly endorse him.

Won't he?
Paul...is far from the Republican mainstream and acknowledged that he has been largely shunned by the national party. He has criticized President Bush for acting unconstitutionally in sending U.S. troops to Iraq and has said he would support an investigation into whether Bush "deliberately misrepresented" his reasons for doing so.
Oh.

Nevermind.
