Do I "believe in " global warming? In the sense that the world seems to be warmer now than in recent history, yes. The more apocalyptic scenarios seem to me to remain unproven, but certainly cause for concern.Do I believe that global warming is anthropogenic? Not so clear. Plausible, but still far from certain.
Exactly. Just like Bush said in 2000, we really do need more information and study before we making start rash judgements about whether human beings are causing warming, don't we?
What did those scientists from 113 different countries say just this week?
OK, that's just those liberal scientists with their secular progressive agenda. What do the libertarians say?"Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global mean sea level," the report said.
A senior U.S. government scientist, Susan Solomon, said as the report was released, "There can be no question that the increase in greenhouse gases are dominated by human activities."
Patrick Michaels, a scholar at the Cato Institute, a Washington libertarian think tank, said that "it is not news to say that human beings are responsible for much of the warming in the late 20th Century."
Sigh.
The only people who believe "it's far from certain" whether human beings are causing global warming are a) ExxonMobil-funded propagandists b) Texaco-funded propagandists and c) "libertarian" law professors at 2nd-tier universities.
