Unserious, petty Bush-haters.

That's what Putz thinks of two-thirds of the American people:
HITCHENS GIVES BILL MAHER'S AUDIENCE the finger. Should things go badly with the war, Maher's audience -- and, for that matter, Maher himself -- will be cited by historians as evidence of the American opposition's unseriousness...UPDATE: Rand Simberg emails: "I suspect that historians will judge Democrats unserious regardless of the war's outcome. In fact, if it goes badly enough, history of the era will be written in Arabic." And even those historians won't respect Maher and his audience, though they may be grateful for their petty Bush-hatred.
It is nothing short of mind-boggling that no matter how many of his fellow citizens oppose the President's handling of the war in Iraq, 65% is the current mark, Putz has the gall to dismiss them as unserious, petty Bush-haters.

Leaving aside the nearly superhuman amount of arrogance this requires, that he actually is able to compose the phrase "should things go badly with the war," adds a heavy dose of delusion and utter cluelessness to the mix. And that Putz praises Hitchens for his childish, vulgar outburst, while he continually describes those who speak out against the war as "hateful" makes him a hypocrite, on top of everything else.

Hitchens, by the way, insulted the audience before he was heckled in response. Then, to defend his beloved war, dusted off the same old stale right-wing lies (the Media Matters "Hitler" ad, for instance) that the RNC has been peddling for years.

If Al Franken had gone on Hugh Hewitt's show and told his audience to "fuck off", Putz would've immediately seized upon the item as more "proof" of the anti-war Left's unhinged, out-of-control hatefulness. But Hitchens flips off Bill Maher's audience, and Putz takes the opportunity to insult Maher and two-thirds of the country.

Remarkable.

Correction:
Move.on & Hitler, not Media Matters & Hitler...not that it matters in either case, except as further evidence of what a craven liar Hitchens is.

I'm missing something. Hitchens did the finger-giving, but Maher and the audience are unserious? No matter what they did to provoke Hitchens, he's the one making puerile gestures instead of rational argument.
